Enabling Live Broadcast
How to enable Live Broadcast on your Rowing Monitors and follow your team's session live from the XBoat web app.
Live Broadcast streams your team's on-water session in real time. Once enabled, your Rowing Monitors send live data to the XBoat web app so coaches and supporters can follow every stroke from the launch, the boathouse, or anywhere with an internet connection.
Before you begin
- Request beta access. Live Broadcast is currently a beta feature. Email support@xboat.com to have it enabled for your team.
- Ensure on-water connectivity. Your monitors must stay connected to the internet while rowing. You have two options:
- A portable hotspot securely placed in the boat
- A SIM card installed in each Rowing Monitor
- Solis Pro 5G Mobile Hotspot
- Includes 10 GB to start, then 1 GB/mo (10GB ≈ 125-250 hours + 1 GB ≈ 12-25 hrs/mo for a full eight)
- T-Mobile Prepaid SIM Cards
- From 2 GB / $10/mo (~200-400 hrs/mo per monitor)
Live Broadcast uses about 5-10 MB an hour per monitor of streaming. Below are some options that we recommend:
Step 1: Select your Team profile
- Power on and log into your Rowing Monitors.
- Confirm your Team profile is selected. Live Broadcast streams under the team profile, so the correct profile must be active for live broadcast to work.

Step 2: Enable Live Broadcast on the monitor
- Open Settings.
- Scroll down to the Data section.
- Select Live Broadcast.
- Toggle Enable.

Step 3: View the broadcast in the web app
- Open the XBoat web app and select your Team profile.
- Go to the Live Broadcast tab to watch the session/crew stream in real time.

Mobile: Live Broadcast tab

Desktop: Live Broadcast tab
Live Broadcast only streams while your monitors stay connected to the internet. If connectivity drops on the water, the broadcast will pause and resume once the connection is restored.
