University Wi-Fi Requires MAC Address
Finding Your Monitor’s Wi-Fi MAC Address
When connecting your monitor to a university Wi-Fi network that requires MAC address registration, you’ll need to locate the device’s Wi-Fi MAC address. Here’s how:
Step 1 — Open System Settings
- On your monitor, open Settings.
- Scroll all the way to the bottom and tap System settings.
Step 2 — Open About Phone
- In System settings, scroll down again and select About phone.
- Scroll to the bottom of the About phone screen.
- Look for Device Wi-Fi MAC address. This is the number you will need to provide to the university.
- It should look like this:
XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX(six pairs of letters/numbers separated by colons).
Tips & Troubleshooting
- Check the format: A MAC address always has six pairs of numbers/letters separated by colons (e.g.
A1:B2:C3:D4:E5:F6).
- Still can’t find it? If the Device Wi-Fi MAC Address doesn’t appear under About phone, try looking here instead:
- Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → Advanced
- Before connecting: Make sure you copy the Device Wi-Fi MAC address when registering with your university. Using the wrong one (like a Bluetooth address or IP address) will prevent your monitor from connecting.
