Mounting Monitors
The XBoat Rowing Monitor connects to XBoat Smart Oarlocks to providing powerful real-time feedback every stroke and logging millions of datapoints that are automatically analyzed in moments following your rowing session.
Mounting Requirements
Hard mounting point to capture accurate hull acceleration data at each rowing position
Consistent orientation with at least 10° of incline towards the athlete. At present, monitors cannot be mounted flat
One monitor per instrumented rowing position to collect data, even if monitors are not visible to the athlete
The XBoat Rowing Monitor is compatible with the SpeedCoach mounting ecosystem. If you need an additional mount, it can be purchased here.
Sculling
Option 1: footboard or hull
Many hulls have bolt holes on the foot board that provides a convenient mounting location for the Rowing Monitor.
To elevate the monitor above the toes, mounts can be bent twice to create an “S” shaped elbow

Option 2: either gunwale
In team boats, XBoat Rowing Monitors can be mounted on the gunwales in unused bolt holes.
This position provides sturdy connection to the hull for precise acceleration measurement, easy athlete visibility, and clearance from oars

Option 3: rigger
Some hulls allow for the mounting of a compatible accessory directly on the center of the rigger.
Be sure that the Rowing Monitor is securely affixed to the boat so hull acceleration is accurately captured at each seat

❗NOT RECOMMENDED❗
SpeedCoach straps alone do not provide a solid attachment to the hull. The XBoat system relies on the firm attachment of the Rowing Monitor to the instrumented hull to properly collect and transmit hull acceleration data at each seat

Sweep
Option 1: outboard gunwale
rowing monitors can be mounted atop existing bolts as allowed by the shells rigger. be sure that the rowing monitor is positioned to:
- clear the outboard handle of the position on the recovery
- clear the elbow of the position in front of the monitor at the release

Option 2: inboard gunwale
some shells have space for the monitor on the inboard side, providing visibility in the direction of rowing. When mounting on the inboard, be sure your shell’s dimensions allow for the oar to clear the monitor

Before rowing, ensure the USB charging port cover is firmly in place to prevent water damage to the Rowing Monitor
