Installing XBoat Oarlocks
Swap your exiting oarlock and 8.5mm of spacers (about 1.25 standard pop washers) with your XBoat Oarlock and Angle Reference
- Install Angle Reference with embossed arrow face up and pointed to stern. Tighten with 3mm hex wrench. Use of a long straight edge can be useful here to align the flattened portion of the magnetic reference uniformly towards the stern. It is important that the magnetic angle reference does not pivot around the pin. Tighten the 3mm hex firmly until the driver shaft begins to twist/flex.
- Install the Oarlock above the angle reference add any additional spacers required to achieve a fit with less than 0.5mm of vertical play
- Check that XPod is clear of any backstay or rigger cup. Some riggers may require the use of an extended cup or wing tip (Fluidesign)

- Connect the oarlocks to the Rowing Monitor

- Swing each gate smoothly around the pin, from -90° to +90° with respect to the angle reference arrow. A red or green indicator (port or starboard) will illuminate to illustrate the angle of the gate.
- Zero the oarlock by fixing the gate(s) parallel to the hull with a straight edge or a level through one or both oarlocks and press
Zero Angle
Zeroing the Smart Oarlock is essential for accurate catch and release angles. Zero the oarlocks during initial installation, and after any change in spacer height or when replacing the XPods after charging. Zeroing is not required when changing monitors, as the zero information is stored within the Smart Oarlock.
Mounting the Display
Orient the display parallel to hull centerline and incline display at least 15 degrees towards the athlete to prevent water pooling on the screen.
If the monitor is not mounted parallel to the hull, acceleration data may not be recorded accurately
Before rowing, ensure the USB charging port cover is firmly in place to prevent water damage.
